The Story Thus Far
On the way to Winterhaven, the party is attacked by kobolds and they win handily. In town, after asking around for leads, they notice a dilapidated storage house. After entering and realizing it was haunted, they fight their way around some ghosts and uncover a dead man in the basement. A talk with the town's resident wizard reveals the man was betrayed by his party. He believed that the burial place of the betrayed man was disturbed, which is what caused the ghost attack. They had kobolds to stop though, and after tackling the tough Irontooth, they discovered he was working for cultists trying to release Orcus from the Shadowfell right into Winterhaven! Thinking a rift to the Shadowfell being opened and the ghost attack were related, they head to the tomb to see it has been opened and looted. Back in town, the wizard tells the tale of the betrayal and sends the party to a keep built on top of the rift to keep it closed. The party finds the keep rundown and inhabited by hobgoblins. After a long, hard, draining fight, they defeated Kalarel and stopped the rift from being opened!
